Fam, crack open those Coronas because Vin Diesel has just teased an epic conclusion for the Fast and Furious franchise. After the success of Fast X, the audience have been long waiting for the final film in the franchise, Fast X Part 2, to see how our decade-long relationship with the franchise concludes. And Diesel is, as always, happy to share another insight with his fans.
In a new video shared on Instagram, the Riddick star can be seen drifting in his faithful black 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, which he’s previously teased to be using in the upcoming movie. While we don’t know how Dom’s trusted vehicle returns, it certainly brings the story full circle. The video concludes with ominous words “The saga continues.”
What to Expect From ‘Fast X: Part Two’?
Fast X: Part Two will be directed by returning director Louis Leterrier, with Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel handling the script. The story is expected to be picked up after the events of Fast X, which left us on a major cliffhanger. However, any further plot details are kept tightly under wraps, but we can say for sure that the franchise will return to its roots in more than one way.
The Fast and Furious franchise has always been synonymous with a lot of vehicular action wrapped in lots of love for the family, and Diesel is trying to bring both factors back in a big way. Franchise star Jordana Brewster previously spoke to Collider and expressed her desire to go back to the gritty, grimy, and grounded storytelling of the original movies. When asked about any “creative itch” she hopes the last film will scratch, Brewster revealed,
“Yeah, big time. I would like to go back to the roots of the first one, kind of like what you were saying with Final Destination. I think it should be back in LA, I think it should be gritty, and I think Mia should go back to being part of a group that’s kicking some ass.”
Furthermore, Fast X teased the return of some major franchise characters like Dwayne Johnson in his role of Luke Hobbs, and while his role in the film was limited to the post-credit scene, he is expected to step into a larger capacity in the final installment. Also expected to return to a larger role in Fast X: Part 2 is jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, who features in one scene in Fast X, but his cameo further builds out a stacked ensemble for the sequel.
Fast X: Part 2 will begin filming this summer in Los Angeles, but it does not yet have an official release date. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates.
