The Beekeeper may have stung the box office with a sweet $162.6 million global haul earlier this year, but Jason Statham’s conspiracy-fueled revenge thriller is starting to lose steam on streaming. Despite boasting a strong 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the David Ayer-directed film has dropped down on MGM+’s Top 10 chart as of July 9, according to FlixPatrol. Currently sitting at No. 5 on MGM+, The Beekeeper has slipped behind newer titles but is still outperforming heavy-hitters like Sonic the Hedgehog 3Transformers: Rise of the BeastsThe Magnificent Seven, and even Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Not bad for a sleeper hit with a modest $40 million budget.

While The Beekeeper is cooling off, Statham’s fans don’t have to worry — he’s still dominating elsewhere. His 2025 film A Working Man, another collaboration with Ayer, is currently No. 1 on MGM+’s Top 10 Overall list. The action star shows no signs of slowing down, whether he’s playing a blue-collar assassin or a rogue operative with a cause, all of whom can kick an “arse” or two while dropping a pun-filled one liner.

What Is ‘The Beekeeper’ About?

In case you missed it in theaters, The Beekeeper sees Statham play Adam Clay — a quiet beekeeper with a very particular set of skills. After his landlady (played by Phylicia Rashad) falls victim to a phishing scam and dies by suicide, Clay goes on a one-man mission to burn the corrupt tech empire to the ground. It’s vigilante justice, Jason Statham-style. And it’s not the end for Adam Clay either, as a sequel has already been greenlit by Amazon MGM Studios, with a reported $50+ million deal for global distribution. One major change? David Ayer is out as director due to scheduling conflicts. Timo Tjahjanto — who is working on the upcoming Nobody 2 — is set to take over behind the camera. Kurt Wimmer will return to write the script. Production on The Beekeeper 2 is slated to begin in fall 2025, but casting details remain under wraps.

Statham’s action slate is stacked. In 2026, he’ll headline Mutiny, a Lionsgate thriller from Plane director Jean-François Richet. He’s also signed on for a currently untitled action film from Greenland filmmaker Ric Roman Waugh, co-starring Naomi Ackie — who promises fans a “classic” Statham ride.

You can check out The Beekeeper on Prime Video and MGM+, and stay tuned for updates on Jason Statham.
