According to a report in Variety, Diesel revealed the studio approached him with a request, “Vin, can we please have the finale of ‘Fast and Furious’ in April 2027?”
He agreed, but set three important conditions for the film’s direction. Diesel recalled, “I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing! The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”

The mention of Brian O’Conner’s return has raised many questions. The character, famously played by Paul Walker, passed away in a tragic car accident in 2013 at just 40 years old. If Walker is to appear in Fast and Furious 11, it would almost certainly have to be through digital means, such as CGI or previously unreleased footage, since bringing him back physically is impossible.
About Fast X
The franchise’s latest entry, Fast X, premiered in May 2023 and went on to earn more than $700 million worldwide. Despite its hefty production budget of $340 million, the film managed impressive box office numbers. The star-studded cast included Vin Diesel, Alan Ritchson, Jason Momoa, Michelle Rodriguez, Rita Moreno, and Brie Larson. When it was released, Fast X was marketed as the first half of a two-part finale, but with the lengthy wait until Fast 11, it’s still unclear how closely the next film will pick up the story.
