Vin Diesel announced that Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner could appear in Fast & Furious 11, garnering mixed responses online.

Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner have long been fan favourites in the Fast & Furious franchise, a high-octane blend of street racing, heists, and espionage, distributed by Universal Pictures. After Walker’s tragic death in 2013, his character was given an emotional farewell. However, Diesel has now surprised fans by hinting at Brian O’Conner’s return in the upcoming instalment.
At the Fuel Fest event in Pomona, California, hosted by Paul Walker’s brother, Cody Walker, Vin Diesel hinted towards the possible return of the on-screen character Brian O’Conner, played by the late Paul Walker in Fast X: Part 2. The 11th film in the Fast & Furious franchise will reportedly use cutting-edge VFX and other advanced editing tools to mark the striking reunion between the two star characters on-screen.
Revealing his top three conditions for the perfect finale, the veteran actor said, “Just yesterday I was with Universal Studios … The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast & Furious [in] April 2027?’ I said, ‘Under three conditions because I’ve been listening to my fanbase.’”
He disclosed, “The first is to bring the franchise back to L.A.,” adding, “The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing.”
Finally, talking about his most emotional request to the makers of the high-octane saga, Diesel elaborated, “The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner. That is what you’re going to get in the finale.”
Soon after Diesel’s revelations surfaced on social media, fans opened up about their reactions to it.
One user said, “I mean, Paul Walker is literally dead, and his character is coming back to Fast and Furious.”
Another person gave a mixed reaction to it. An excerpt from the comment can be read as “Vin Diesel’s plan to bring back Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner with CGI in the final Fast and Furious movie is like SpongeBob trying to revive a jellyfish with a high-tech net.”
“Just heard a rumour that they’re bringing back Paul Walker’s character (Brian) into the Fast & Furious franchise. I was ready to throw my phone out of the building,” said a person.
Someone said, “Sure, this could be done…instead of AI Paul Walker, AI DJ as Brian O’Connor…AI DJ saying Paul Walker lines from Fast and Furious…’Dude, I almost had you.’”
One of the beloved characters in the Fast & Furious family, Brian O’Conner, was originally played by the late actor Paul Walker. It was midway through shooting for Fast & Furious 7 that the actor met a tragic death in November 2013, in a car accident at the mere age of 40. Then, the makers bid an emotional goodbye to him with an iconic scene of Dom and Brian driving off in separate directions. They used CGI, 350 VFX shots, and stand-ins played by his brothers, Cody Walker and Caleb Walker, for the same.
