Tom Hardy’s mob drama series, MobLand, continues to hold one of the top spots on Paramount+’s global streaming charts. The series, created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy) and co-written by Jez Butterworth (The Agency), is quietly considered one of the best new original TV shows of 2025 by critics and audiences alike.
Hardy, who’s still fresh off his star role in Gareth Evans’ Netflix action thriller Havoc, stars in all ten episodes of Mobland as Harry De Souza, a street-smart “fixer” in the middle of a fight for power between two rival crime families. Veteran actors Pierce Brosnan and Helen Miran star alongside Hardy as two members of the revered Harrington family.
At the time of writing, in mid-July 2025, MobLand is back to being #1 on Paramount+’s global streaming charts today. Recently, it’s been at #2 or below, but interest is back up after its season 2 renewal was announced. Also among the top shows are Taylor Sheridan’s Landman and the Dexter spinoff series, Dexter: Original Sin.
What Mobland’s Continued Streaming Dominance Means For Season 2
Season 2 Should Have An Even Larger Audience Than Season 1 Did
The announcement of Mobland season 2 is likely contributing to the resurgence of Mobland season 1’s streaming success in the summer of 2025. The series was initially released at the end of March 2025 and concluded its first season after 10 episodes on June 1, 2025.
Hardy has traditionally had a major box office pull thanks to his profitable Venom franchise, which is now translating well into the streaming space.
The dominant streaming viewership of Mobland has proven that the series has a dedicated fanbase that continues to build, suggesting that season 2 is a no-brainer investment for Paramount+. Our Take On Mobland’s Streaming Success & Longevity

Mobland has a lot of natural appeal thanks to the strong writing, great cast, catchy title, and darkly nuanced crime story. Based on IMDb audience ratings, season 1 improved with each new episode, kicking off its series premiere with an average score of 8.0 before landing an impressive 8.6 score in its season 1 finale.

That said, some audience members felt that Mobland actually dulled down in quality over the second half of its first season after an instantly intriguing start. Across the board, the acting in Mobland was praised as a series highlight, with some viewers venturing to say that it’s one of their all-time favorite Tom Hardy roles.
While Mobland season 1 naturally has some flaws, it does set a strong foundation to become one of Paramount’s flagship series. Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind Yellowstone, Landman, and several more original series, has single-handedly paved the way for more prestige original TV shows on the platform, and Mobland absolutely fits that bill.
